Kiefer Sutherland Makes $8 Million Off-Market Deal for Toluca Lake Home |

Kiefer Sutherland has quietly sold his longtime home in the densely celebrified Toluca Lake area of Los Angeles.
The $8 million off-market deal is not only more than twice the almost $3.35 million the 55-year-old 24 star paid for the property just over ten years ago, its the third highest amount ever paid for a home in Toluca Lake, just over the $7.5 million Patricia Heaton got for her Mediterranean mansion in 2020 but still more than half the record-setting $17.5 million This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman ponied up for his 1.4-acre spread last year. The property was available through Coldwell Banker Realtys Kelly Sutherland; the buyers were represented in the transaction by Craig Knizek and Kevin Dees, both with The Agency.
Since the Sutherland transaction occurred outside the MLS, not much is known about the sprawling traditional home that was designed by esteemed architect Paul Williams, dates to 1935 and is hidden behind imposing gates and a verdant wall of hedging on over half an acre of primly landscaped grounds.
Tax records and other online resources indicate there are five bedrooms and five bathrooms, plus a powder room, in an unquestionably spacious though well shy of ostentatious 4,900 square feet. Redone about eight years ago by designer Ryan Brown, the two-story traditionals living and dining rooms are complemented by a family room and an island kitchen with informal dining area. Other features include a three-car garage, a security system and three fireplaces, in the living room, family room and primary bedroom.
Arial views show a cobblestoned motor court and a wide carpet of lawn at the front of the house, while the tree-ringed backyard incorporates a pergola-shaded patio, a putting green and an outdoor fireplace. Set against an unusually tall fence that ensures neighbors cant catch a glimpse of anyone paddling about and/or parading around in their birthday suit are a perfectly square spa alongside a dark-bottomed rectangular swimming pool.
Toluca Lake is a quiet but well-known neighborhood long popular with celebs and other showbiz movers and shakers. Once upon a time, entertainment industry icons like Bing Crosby, Bette Davis, Frankie Avalon, and Jonathan Winters all took up residence in the Burbank-adjacent neighborhood. More recently, past and present homeowners include Henry Winkler, Steve Carell, Melissa McCarthy, Viola Davis, Sia, Miley Cyrus, and Octavia Spencer.
Indeed, Sutherlands former home sits right next door to one of the neighborhoods most famous (and expensive) homes: the vast former estate of late legend Bob Hope. The five-plus-acre estate is now owned by trophy property collecting billionaire grocery tycoon Ron Burkle, who snapped it up in 2018 for a then record setting $15 million, a steep discount on the $22 million asking price, and now has for sale at what would be a neighborhood record shattering $29 million.
Engaged since 2019 to actress, model and saxophonist Cindy Vela, Sutherland continues to own a modest, well-maintained cottage in the trendy Atwater Village area that tax records show was scooped up almost four years ago for about $1.2 million.
