Research has revealed that Brits spend on average £38,919 on pints of beer over a lifetime, with many paying significantly more depending on where they are based in the country.

With two thirds (57%) of Brits believing drink is overpriced, and with the average pint setting adults back £3.61, a ‘pint’ glass has been created designed to give beer lovers everywhere the true value of their pint, for the money they spend.

Meaning that those that live in London, the most expensive city to buy a pint in the UK (£4.49) and 1.6 times the cheapest, will receive 1.6 times the volume of beer. Because? Well, that’s simple and honest of course.

With Londoners paying £82,731.54 on pints over their adult lifetime, SMARTY, the SIM-only mobile network who created the glass, have decided to take The SMARTY Pint to London first.

SMARTY created the fair pint to reflect they are the only mobile network that gives money back every month for leftover data to right this wrong.

Londoners can claim Britain’s fairest pint for free on the London Southbank, Riverside Walkway (by Gabriel’s Wharf, SE1 9PP) on 21 November from 5 - 7pm. But fear not, the public can tweet @smartymobileuk for a chance to have the SMARTY Pint visit their city.

To demonstrate this UK wide injustice, SMARTY took a look at the top 10 most expensive cities to buy a pint of beer in the UK:

1. London £4.49

2. Bristol £3.77

3. Brighton and Hove £3.75

4. Plymouth £3.46

5. Manchester £3.36

6. Norwich £3.34

7. Newcastle £3.31

8. Leeds £3.25

9. Leicester £3.06

10. Glasgow £3.01

A spokesperson from SMARTY, said: “The research shows just how much the price of something – particularly a pint – differs depending on where you are in the country. Brits are paying much more for exactly the same product purely because of where they live.

We believe the public should receive the true value of what they pay. That’s why we decided to launch The SMARTY Pint.”
