Headline : The Future Of Advertising? Company Proposes Orbital Displays To Project Ads In The Sky
Caption : A Russian start-up company could change the way we see ads in the future.

Start-up company StartRocket says it wants to display billboard-style adverts in the sky.

The company said it could launch the "Orbital Display" by next year, with ads launching in 2021.

Its cubesats - a class of nanosatellites - will orbit at an altitude of around 400 and 500 kilometres and will only be visible from the ground for six minutes at a time.

Project leader Vlad Sitnikov told Futurism that the commodification of the night sky is the next step in advertising.

"We are ruled by brands and events. The Super Bowl, Coca Cola, Brexit, the Olympics, Mercedes, FIFA, Supreme and the Mexican wall. The economy is the blood system of society. Entertainment and advertising are at its heart.

"We will live in space, and humankind will start delivering its culture to space. The more professional and experienced pioneers will make it better for everyone."

Other benefits to projecting into the sky could be for displaying necessary information to the public; when phones don’t work, during zero visibility, power cuts and catastrophical emergencies the government could use the display for urgent notifications for the population.
