Gordon Thompson, the man who admitted burning down the Reeves family-run furniture store
in Croydon, South London during the London riots on 8 August (11), will be sentenced on Wednesday (11Apr12).
A court heard that Thompson rioted in the streets before setting fire to the store which had been
there since 1867.
The aftermath of rioting in Croydon, where buildings, including the landmark House of Reeves furniture store, were torched. Riots and looting have broken out all across Greater London and are now spreading across the country
following the shooting of Mark Duggan by police in Tottenham, North London on Thursday, August 4th
